DOCTOR'S BEST INTRODUCES BLOOD FAT BALANCER

SAN CLEMENTE, CA, Nov. 19, 1998 - Doctor's Best, Inc. has announced the release of Blood Fat Balancer, a new dietary supplement for cholesterol management. Blood Fat Balancer contains three ingredients with proven cholesterol-normalizing ability: Gugulipid®, inositol hexanicotinate and pantethine.

Combining Gugulipid® with inositol hexanicotinate and pantethine is a major step forward in using dietary supplements for keeping cholesterol and triglycerides at healthy levels.

Gugulipid®, an Ayurvedic herbal extract, has been on the market in the U.S. since 1990. Gugulipid® is made from the resin of the Commiphora tree, a small shrub-like tree indigenous to India. The gummy resin, called gum guggul, is an herb used for centuries in India's ancient Ayurvedic healing system. Indian scientists began studying gum guggul's influence on blood fats and cholesterol over 30 years ago. After animal and human studies showed it consistently lowered cholesterol levels, Gugulipid®, a standardized extract of the resin, was developed. Now the preferred form of gum guggul for use in clinical trials, Gugulipid® brings cholesterol and triglyceride levels down, while raising HDL. Inositol hexanicotinate is a flush-free form of niacin (vitamin B3). Niacin's ability to regulate cholesterol has been known to science for decades. Free from the "flushing" effect associated with ordinary niacin, inositol hexanicotinate delivers all the benefits of niacin for cardiovascular health.

Pantethine is a derivative of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). In the body, pantethine converts to CoA, an enzyme that regulates fat metabolism. Pantethine promotes the burning of fats for energy at the expense of cholesterol production. Research studies on pantethine over the past 20 years demonstrate substantial reductions of cholesterol and triglycerides, with increases in HDL. Like inositol hexanicotinate, pantethine is safe and free of side effects.
