Unique Meeting Room Scheduling Solution Selected from More than 5,000 Entries Worldwide
Essen, Germany, July 5, 2016 - Visionect announced today that it has received the prestigious international Red Dot Product Design Award 2016 for Joan Meeting Room Assistant, an innovative digital door label and meeting room scheduling solution. Joan beat out more than 5,000 competing entries from 57 countries. The awards competition is organized by Essen-based Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, one of the oldest (established 1954) and most prestigious design institutions worldwide.
Joan and other winning products will now be on display for one month at a special exhibition, Design on Stage, at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, before being included in the museum's permanent exhibition.
The international Red Dot jury bestows the sought-after seal of quality only to those products that stand out based on innovation, functionality, quality, ergonomics and durability.
According to a Red Dot jury statement, "with its intelligent technology and a versatile appearance, Joan Meeting Room Assistant meets the needs of a digitally-dominated world of work."
The jury added that Joan received the Red Dot Award for high design for its minimalist appearance and ease of use.
"For 60 years, the most-respected design experts have been convening every year in Essen to seek out the best designs," said Professor Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award. "This year we had a record number of more than 5,000 entries – a huge amount of work for our jury members, who assessed each individual product. The winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016 have demonstrated exceptionally high achievements and are deservedly successful in the world's largest design competition."
"Our goal was to develop intelligent technology in an easy-to-use product to fulfill modern workplace needs," said Matej Zalar, CEO of Visionect. "Joan's development has been influenced by its earliest users such as Microsoft, Dell, DreamWorks and others. We relied on user needs and feedback to create a simple, intuitive interface."
Zalar added that Visionect worked closely with developers and end users to simplify the office experience by connecting to existing calendars and Wi-Fi.
"One can display room reservations and book meeting rooms on the spot from a Mac, PC or any mobile device without changing user habits and their workflow," said Zalar.
In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Award has three different categories: Product Design, Communication Design and Design Concept.
The Red Dot Award was created by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and is one of the best-respected design competitions in the world. In 2015, it celebrated its 60th anniversary. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. The sought-after award, the "Red Dot," is the revered international seal of outstanding design quality.
