Adesto Offers Micron-style Small Serial Flash

Adesto Technologies Corp. has introduced the DataFlash-L series of small size serial flash memories to address smart home and smart industrial markets.

Adesto's DataFlash-L is a pin compatible alternative to Micron Technology's M25PE memory series which is used in smart home, industrial and automation markets. Adesto states that Micron has announced end-of-life for page-erase serial flash at sizes from 2Mbit to 16Mbit.

Designed for low power operation and higher system efficiency, DataFlash-L products can help optimize embedded systems in wireless edge devices.

The AT25PExx series of memories are an adaption of the AT45DBxxx and offer memory sizes of 2Mbit, 4Mbit and 8Mbit with 256byte page size and 16Mbit with a 512byte page size. The chips offer 1.7 to 3.6V operation with a 400nA power down mode.

Paul Hill, director of product marketing at Adesto, said that a number of vendors, including Micron, are pulling away from the low density part of the market but that Adesto was pleased to step up as it believes that the IoT market means low density non-volatile memories will continue to be important.

Samples of DataFlash-L are available now and mass production is slated to commence in Q4 2017.
