CLIENT: AMERICAN EDUCATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS

April 2012: Telemed Monthly

Making Pregnancy Easier

For pregnancies that are considered high-risk, travel is the last thing a doctor would prescribe. But for mothers located outside of major medical centers, it can be hard to get the specialized care they need without travel. Thankfully, telemedicine has afforded these mothers peace of mind when it comes to their baby's care. With consulting via telemedicine, maternal fetal medicine specialists are able to consult with mothers from many miles away, while the mother-to-be visits her local OB/GYN.

Beyond providing easier access to patients, telemedicine helps doctors increase their ROI as well. The local OB/GYN is still able to consult on the pregnancy instead of sending the mother out of town. Specialists are also expanding their geographic footprint without the need for travel.

Take a look at this informative video from Alegent Health or read our Expanding Practices White Paper to learn more.
