OMAHA, NE, July 20, 2010 -- Telemedicine solution provider AET (American Educational Telecommunications; www.aetmedical.com) and Ft. Myers, FL-based The Florida Sleep School (www.flsleepschool.com) have formed a global alliance that will enable sleep medicine to be available to a much broader spectrum of students, faculty and patients in the U.S. and overseas.
The Florida Sleep School is affiliated with Sleep Management Centers, a certified A-STEP (Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program; the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) accredits providers - the course teaches students practical skills essential for a career in sleep technology) educational provider. The school also has eight beds inside one of two fully accredited sleep centers (located in Ft. Myers and Orlando) so students are able to get hands on training while in an actual sleep lab environment.
Courses include a mix of didactic and virtual lectures; the faculty has more than 100 years of combined experience in sleep medicine including board positions with the BRPT (Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists), AAST (American Association of Sleep Technologists) and BRPT exam development committee.
According to AET Marketing Director Dave Johnson, AET will take select content from The Florida Sleep School and package/market/sell it abroad.
“In certain parts of the world where there’s a need for sleep programs, the technology and/or expertise may not be readily available,” said Johnson. “AET and The Florida Sleep School will help fill this void.”
Mike Clark, Vice President of Business Development for The Florida Sleep School, added that the partnership will enable students and faculty to get virtually connected with prominent sleep physiologists and other industry professionals worldwide, one of whom is Amsterdam-based Dr. Winnie Hoffman, a renowned insomnia expert.
AET is a pioneer in the fields of telemedicine, broadcast medicine, and distance learning. Established in 1999, the company has offices in Norfolk and Omaha, NE. AET combines its professional services with today's technology tools to provide long-lasting, cost-effective healthcare solutions.
