APS UNVEILS SMARTSEARCH 6.0

OCEANSIDE, CA, Aug. 24, 2000 -- Advanced Personnel Systems, Inc. (APS) has introduced Version 6.0 of SmartSearch Online. Doug Coull, APS' president, made the announcement.

SmartSearch Online is an Internet-based staffing management system that eliminates the need for companies to purchase expensive hardware, software or technical support. The system features APS' SmartSearch database and has a 'user-friendly' interface that can be learned in minutes. And, since it is Web-based, users can tap into their database anytime, anywhere they have Internet access.

"SmartSearch Online, Version 6.0 offers our varied clientele a host of new value-added features that are designed to improve their productivity and efficiency," Coull said. "The new interface not only makes the system easier to navigate, but all record types are now color-coded and we have improved candidate folder information and organization."

Other major new features include:

  • Full integration with Microsoft Outlook 98 and Outlook 2000 calendar and schedule functions - SmartSearch Online is the only Web-based system offering this. Users can also import and export contacts to and from Outlook and from SmartSearch Online.
  • Adds custom pages for different record types - You can tailor the program by adding customized pages for record types which helps accommodate unique data management needs.
  • Summary bars - These automatically pop up at the top of the screen, providing viewers with last and current activity status updates for candidates and/or jobs. This reduces clicks and screen loads.
  • Skill coding - Enhances the search function by allowing users to test and rate candidates on their skill levels and record the data. This is especially helpful for certain classes of candidates that may not have resumes. System users can select a skill code to help evaluate a candidate.
  • Stores rich text formatted resumes - Retains the resume's original look and feel and provides a competitive edge on the Internet, since so many resumes still use plain ASCII text.
  • Stores multiple resumes - Users can have multiple resumes, edit a resume prior to sending it out and save the edited version.
  • Mail merges documents - Provides the ability to export contact and candidate information. The system can e-mail to users the mail merge documents. APS provides a template; users can make their own labels.
  • Extracts contact information - Users can cut and paste resumes into a database, pull out relevant data and post it into relevant fields.
