BERRYMAN & HENIGAR WINS $6.6 MILLION CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT CONTRACT FROM SACRAMENTO REGIONAL COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA, Mar. 1, 2004 -- Berryman & Henigar has been contracted by the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (SRCSD, www.srcsd.com) to provide a wide variety of construction management services for the West Sacramento Force Main section of what is known as the Lower Northwest Interceptor. Scott Kvandal, president of Berryman & Henigar, made the announcement.

James F. Warren, P.E., Division Manager of Construction Management Services for Berryman & Henigar's Northern California operations, will be serving as Principal-in-Charge. The project will be administered from the firm's new Sacramento regional office, located at 3050 Beacon Blvd., Suite 101, West Sacramento 95691; (916) 617-2028. The Covello Group will also be serving as a principal partner with Berryman & Henigar on the project.

SRCSD serves the unincorporated area of Sacramento County, parts of the Cities of Sacramento and Folsom, and the cities of Citrus Heights and Elk Grove. SRCSD maintains 80 miles of interceptors that convey 10 mgd. or more of wastewater with 90 more interceptor miles scheduled to be built by 2014. The agency conveys wastewater to the Elk Grove-based Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, owned and operated by SRCSD.

According to Warren, the West Sacramento Force main is a $71 million section of a major $400 million effort to update the region's wastewater system. Construction management services will focus on a 20,700-foot segment of dual 60" pipes.

"This will be an exciting and challenging project for Berryman & Henigar," Warren said. "We'll be encountering difficult tunnel crossings, high ground water and will also be working closely with the affected communities as the pipes intersect a high school and residential areas in West Sacramento."

Berryman & Henigar provides municipal management consulting, civil engineering, public finance, building safety, asset management, and program and construction management to public agencies. Further information is available on the Web at www.bhiinc.com.
