BERRYMAN & HENIGAR WINS FOOTHILL PARKWAY PROJECT

SAN DIEGO, California, Oct. 5, 1999 -- The City of Corona, California has awarded a $500,000 design engineering services contract to Berryman & Henigar. Ray Berryman, the company's chief executive officer, made the announcement.

According to John N. Licata, acting public works director, for the City of Corona, the project involves constructing an alignment of the Foothill Parkway between Interstate 15 (I-15) and California Avenue in the southern portion of the city. Corona, population 113,000, is located about 45 miles east of Los Angeles. The proposed roadway right-of-way width will vary along the alignment from 88 to 102 feet.

The Foothill Parkway will be constructed as a major divided secondary arterial consisting of four travel lanes, a median and sidewalks. The roadway will be designed for a future daily traffic volume of 27,000 average daily trips by 2020. Construction costs are estimated at $25 million.

Berryman & Henigar will be preparing plans, specifications and construction documents for the Easterly Extension portion of the project, which is about one mile long. The design phase is slated for completion in November.

"The project is being implemented in order to alleviate traffic congestion and will also help the city accommodate the rapid growth expected in the area over the next decade," said Mohammed Rowther, Berryman & Henigar's project manager who is spearheading the project.

Licata added that Berryman & Henigar will also be working closely with the California Department of Transportation ('Caltrans') and other regional and state government agencies.
