BERRYMAN & HENIGAR AWARDED $750,000 OCTA CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT FOR ADA BUS STOP MODIFICATION SERVICES

SAN DIEGO, CA, Nov. 17, 2004 -- Berryman & Henigar has been awarded a $750,000 contract providing constructing management for ADA bus stop modifications services for the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA). Scott Kvandal, president of Berryman & Henigar, made the announcement.

Formed in 1991 with the consolidation of seven different transportation agencies, OCTA oversees Orange County's transportation network, including freeways, streets, and transit systems. The agency services three million residents within 34 cities.

Last year, Berryman & Henigar managed construction of the renovation and modification of 900 bus stops to comply with ADA standards for 19 Orange County cities. This included bus pads, removal and installation of sidewalk curb and gutter, landscape and irrigation, ramps and some electrical work.

According to Berryman & Henigar Senior Vice President Timothy D'Zmura, P.E., the team of construction administrators and inspectors are experienced in Orange County municipal street construction projects that include various ADA compliant features.

"We have strong ties to every city in Orange County and understand the issues that affect the ADA Bus Stop Modifications project," D'Zmura said.

D'Zmura said Berryman & Henigar is coordinating schedules with various cities to ensure that street construction activities don't interfere with annual events, street pavement rehabilitation and capital improvement projects.

"By resolving these well in advance, we prevent project delays," he added. "We'll also be working with other jurisdictions such as Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) to make sure that permitting issues and differing local construction standards are met."

Berryman & Henigar provides municipal management consulting, civil engineering, land surveying, public finance, building safety, asset management, and program and construction management to public agencies. Further information is available on the web at www.bhiinc.com.
