UNION CITY ENTERS E-GOVERNMENT ARENA

SAN DIEGO, CA, July 13, 2001 -- The City of Union City, CA is implementing its first e-Government program. The City will automate all community development processes with CommunityDevelopmentPartner™ from GovPartner. Scott Kvandal, CEO of GovPartner made the announcement.

Union City, pop. 60,000, is 30 miles southeast of San Francisco. According to Kevin Reese, the City's Chief Building Official, CommunityDevelopmentPartner (a suite of e-Government solutions) will help minimize paperwork and serve as a strong e-Government presence in the community.

"We wanted tools to help us with inspections, permits, in short, an application that would help us with all aspects of our community development process," Reese said.

Union City plans to utilize these key features of CommunityDevelopmentPartner:

  • Building Plan Checks - Will track for the city plan submittals, revisions and plan checks and instantly create online plan check documentation.

  • Complaint Processing - Tracks complaints and links Union City word-processed files to all of the city's communications.

  • Inspections - Tracks customer inspection requests, creates inspection request reports, automatically schedules inspections, reports results and includes optional photo files for each project.

  • Permits - Displays building permit status and history and tracks the application and approval process.

  • Planning - Schedules hearings, monitors hearing notes, tracks appeals, enters public/staff comments, documents and tracks environmental impact information.

Reese added that the implementation of CommunityDevelopmentPartner is only the first of a multi-phased e-Government program that may eventually include additional e-Government solutions from GovPartner, such as PermitPartner™ (online permitting), ReservePartner™ (online reservations) and RequestPartner™ (online request management). The City also plans to eventually link GovPartner's e-Government solutions with GIS functions.
