LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2010-- Imagination Technologies, a leading multimedia chip technologies company, is demonstrating a test chip incorporating Imagination’s latest ENSIGMA UCCP310 IP platform at CES 2010 in Las Vegas (7-10 January 2010). This is the only multi-standard communications IP core available in the market today that can be demonstrated to deliver both 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi connectivity and a broad suite of demodulators required for digital TV broadcasts worldwide, including ATSC and all of the major European and Japanese terrestrial standards, in a single programmable IP core.
UCCP310 delivers not only a growing suite of standards required for worldwide cable, terrestrial and satellite TV as well as digital radio and mobile TV, but also Wi-Fi connectivity to enable the most comprehensive broadcast and communications functionality in consumer electronics products.
Tony King-Smith, VP marketing, Imagination says: "We are excited to be demonstrating our latest ENSIGMA UCCP310 IP platform in silicon for the first time at CES 2010. Utilizing our UCC Series3 architecture, UCCP310 redefines the concept of integrating all forms of connectivity and broadcast communications into high volume consumer products. By delivering the widest range of TV receiver functionality including ATSC alongside Wi-Fi and other connectivity standards, we believe the UCC Series3 architecture is set to revolutionize internet-connected TVs, set-top boxes and mobile devices. It is also a key component in our recently announced Connected Processor strategy."
The UCCP310 platform is designed to support the ever increasing number of standards for communications in a proven, highly-efficient and extraordinarily flexible programmable solution. It delivers multi-standard demodulation support for the 802.11a/b/g family of Wi-Fi standards, class-leading support for digital TV (ATSC (8VSB), Nordig Unified 2.0 DVB-T, full-seg ISDB-T, mobile TV (DVB-H, T-DMB, 1-seg ISDB-T) and digital radio reception (ISDB-Tmm, DAB, DAB+, DMB-R and FM with RDS). Other key features include support for multiple UCC engines, diversity, execution of multiple standards simultaneously on a single UCC engine, and expansion bus options.
UCC Series3, the third generation of the architecture at the heart of the ENSIGMA UCCP multi-standard programmable communications IP platform family delivers market-leading performance for every standard available, while offering a fully programmable ultra low power solution in small silicon area.
Within the UCCP310 platform, UCC Series3's programmable radio technology provides physical layer demodulation and modulation. A dedicated 32-bit META™ processor performs system housekeeping, manages data-link processing for DVB-H and 802.11a/b/g, and distributes data using the platform's own DMA controller.
The ENSIGMA UCCP310 IP platform is available for licensing now.
