KONEXX UNVEILS USB PHONE 2 PC-ADVANCED EDITION WITH ENCRYPTION

SAN DIEGO, CA, July 30, 2004 -- Konexx (http://www.konexx.com) has introduced USB Phone 2 PC-Advanced Edition with Encryption. Alan Gutzmer, Konexx Vice President - Operations, made the announcement.

USB Phone 2 PC-Advanced Edition with Encryption offers recordings that are made in an encrypted format that is virtually impossible to break. A user-defined password provides a second layer of protection, preventing the playing of recordings even with Konexx software unless the proper password is provided.

"The Encryption version is ideal for companies and organizations that need to record proprietary telephone conversations, room interviews, in short, in any setting that involves the discussion of sensitive data such as medical information, bank accounts, or other personal information," Gutzmer said.

USB Phone 2 PC-Advanced Edition with Encryption is an innovative recording solution consisting of the USB Phone 2 PC interface and encryption recording software. The USB Phone 2 PC interface is a combination telephone to computer interface and sound card combination. It obtains its power from the computer's USB port and doesn't require any additional power source, which makes it ideal for use in the field.

The Encryption edition is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98 SE, Millennium, 2000 or XP.

Gutzmer added that since copies of recordings are digital, there is no degradation introduced in the copy process, commonplace with tape duplication. Critical segments of recordings can be indexed and played immediately, without having to fast-forward or rewind through less relevant portions. Files can be distributed by email as file attachments. Encryption ensures sensitive data in recordings is protected from being exposed when emailed or stored recordings are intercepted or accessed by unauthorized parties.

"Encryption users can enable a recording 'Beep Tone' generation to comply with the 'two-party notification' recording laws in some states," Gutzmer said. "Encryption also comes with an audio media player program called Konexx Player. This can be sent to anyone that you want to listen to the encrypted recordings. Konexx Player will only play encrypted files that are password-protected and the password is entered when prompted for it. Konexx Player can also be used to play virtually any 'wav' file."

Key capabilities of USB Phone 2 PC-Advanced Edition with Encryption include:

  • Record telephone calls digitally to the computer for easy storage and distribution.
  • Record meetings or interviews using the supplied external microphone.
  • Portability -- record in the field or the office.
  • Enables dictation of reports or important daily activities that can be played back, emailed or transcribed.
  • Bookmarks can be inserted during recording or playback for easy access or reference to important points in the recorded conversation
  • Encryption ensures sensitive data in recordings is protected from being exposed when emailed or stored recordings are intercepted or accessed by unauthorized parties.
