MACTEC WINS MAEP ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS

NOVI, MI, Feb. 14, 2005 -- MACTEC Engineering & Consulting (MACTEC E&C) has garnered two newly established Environmental Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of Environmental Professionals (MAEP). Bruce C. Coles, president of MACTEC E&C and chairman & CEO of MACTEC, Inc., the holding company (www.mactec.com) - made the announcement.

The MAEP award competition was open to professional engineering firms statewide. The association received a total of 10 project submissions from eight companies in three technical categories: brownfield redevelopment, environmental investigation/remediation, and innovative compliance solutions.

MACTEC's The Factory Condominiums Vapor Control System, Belgravia/Overton Site Project captured first place in the brownfield redevelopment category. This project was conducted under a contract with the City of South Haven, MI via a Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) Brownfield Redevelopment Site Reclamation grant.

The Black River Sediment Remediation Project, performed in Bangor, MI, won the top spot in the environmental investigation/remediation category.

A six-person judges panel included professionals from the University of Michigan, Western Michigan University, the Michigan Manufacturer's Association, Consumer's Energy Company, the MDEQ, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
