MACTEC WINS CONTRACT FROM GEORGIA PORTS AUTHORITY

KENNESAW, GA, June 19, 2007 -- MACTEC Engineering & Consulting (MACTEC E&C) has been awarded a contract from the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) to design and implement a full-scale demonstration of a barge-mounted, moored reoxygenation (ReOx) system for the Savannah Harbor. Bruce C. Coles, president of MACTEC E&C and chairman & CEO of MACTEC, Inc., the holding company (www.mactec.com) - made the announcement.

According to MACTEC Vice President and Georgia/Alabama Operations Manager David Goershel, the project will consist of system design, procurement and installation of the ReOx system, as well as river water quality monitoring prior to and during the system demonstration.

"The system will inject up to 30,000 lbs. of pure molecular oxygen per day over the demonstration phase," Goershel said. "A proprietary system called the Speece Cone will supersaturate, using pure oxygen, a side stream of water from the river and reinject it into the oxygen-deficient deepened navigation channel."

Water quality testing will be performed during the demonstration phase to evaluate habitat improvement for numerous fish and other aquatic species that live in the channel.

Goershel added that by answering questions raised about the use of the system in the Savannah River, the project results will help the GPA in moving forward on the proposed Savannah Harbor Expansion Project. The deepening project will enable the GPA and State of Georgia to more efficiently meet the current shipping demand and to accommodate the larger deep-draft ships currently under construction worldwide.

MACTEC, based in Alpharetta, GA, is a $505 million environmental, engineering, construction management, and infrastructure services firm with 3,000 employees in over 90 offices nationwide.
