MACTEC WINS CONTRACT FOR WORLD TRADE CENTER MEMORIAL

CHARLOTTE, NC, July 17, 2008 -- MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc. (MACTEC) has been retained by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to provide inspection services for the National September 11 Memorial & Museum being constructed at Ground Zero in New York City. Ann E. Massey, President and Chief Executive Officer of MACTEC, Inc., the holding company (www.mactec.com), made the announcement.

The memorial will encompass two pools with cascading waterfalls; the names of the 2,980 people killed in the September 11th attacks in New York City, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania, as well as those who died in the February 1993 World Trade Center (WTC) bombing, will be inscribed around the edge of the pools. Adjacent to the memorial will be an eight-acre plaza containing the 1,776-foot high Freedom Tower, WTC Towers 2,3,4, the PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson) terminal, a performing arts center and retail development.

According to MACTEC Project Manager Kevin Nicholson, the company is providing inspection services for 11,000 tons of structural fabrications for the facility, including beams, columns, and girders for the welded steel.

MACTEC has participated in other projects related to 9/11. The firm's Pittsburgh office provided assistance during the pre-design phase of the Flight 93 memorial in Pennsylvania. The company also provided materials engineering services for 'Project Phoenix' -- the reconstruction of the Pentagon.
