MACTEC HONORED AS EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR BY SAN DIEGO CHAPTER OF WOMEN'S TRANSPORTATION SEMINAR

SAN DIEGO, CA, Aug. 19, 2004 -- MACTEC Engineering & Consulting (MACTEC E&C) was recently honored as the 2003 Employer of the Year by the San Diego Chapter of Women in Transportation Seminar (WTS). Bruce C. Coles, president of MACTEC E&C and chairman & CEO of MACTEC, Inc., the holding company (www.mactec.com) - made the announcement.

Founded in 1977, the Women's Transportation Seminar (www.wtsnational.org) is a national organization of more than 3,500 transportation professionals. There are currently 35 chapters nationwide, including San Diego. WTS provides a wide variety of activities and services, including a job bank and resume service, newsletters, leadership training programs, and more.

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) also recognized MACTEC's accomplishments.

"I commend your embrace of women engineers, as well as your commitment to excellence in providing engineering services for critical infrastructure projects," Sen. Boxer said. "Your successes with the Federal Highway Administration and Environmental Protection Agency are worthy of the utmost praise. Your values of leadership, excellence, diversity, retention and career growth for women are highly commendable, and I encourage you to continue your valuable work."

MACTEC Senior Business Development Manager Lisa Vomero Inouye, based in San Diego, spearheads the firm's regional involvement in WTS. Vomero Inouye serves on the WTS Board of the San Diego Chapter as Program Chair. MACTEC contributes both time and money to the success of the local chapter via the WTS Scholarship Fund, hosting of committee and board meetings, as well as an annual sponsorship.
