MACTEC WINS $9.8 MILLION DESIGN-BUILD CONTRACT FROM VETERANS ADMINISTRATION

PENSACOLA, FL, Nov. 1, 2007 -- MACTEC Engineering & Consulting (MACTEC E&C) and MACTEC Development Corporation have won a $9.8 million design/build contract from the National Cemetery Administration (NCA), a division of the Department of Veteran Affairs. Bruce C. Coles, president of both divisions and chairman & CEO of MACTEC, Inc., the holding company (www.mactec.com) - made the announcement.

MACTEC will be helping to expand the historic Barrancas National Cemetery, located at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Honorably discharged veterans, their spouses and in some cases dependents can be buried at the cemetery, established in 1868.

The cemetery has been expanded four times and a nearly 50-acre annex doubled the size of the cemetery. A section of the annex that opened in 2003 has enough room for 3,000 graves but is already half full.

To stay ahead of the demand for burial space, MACTEC will develop nearly 20 acres of roadway, burial sites, utilities, stormwater management systems (including ponds), a committal shelter, maintenance and administration buildings, as well as overseeing the demolition of some existing facilities. Key services include architectural design, surveying and construction materials testing.

According to MACTEC Vice President and Western Florida Area Manager Todd Schmitt, the expansion will create another 1,300 traditional burial plots and 5,000 pre-placed crypts (these save space as the caskets are stacked instead of situated side-by-side for burial of spouses).

"We expect to have the 1,300 grave sites ready in about a year with the entire project slated for completion in April 2009," Schmitt said. "Our team is working very fast as the cemetery needs space quickly."

MACTEC (www.mactec.com), based in Alpharetta, GA, is an environmental, engineering, construction management, and infrastructure services firm with more than $500 million in annual revenue, and 3,000 employees in over 90 offices nationwide. Florida offices are located in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Miami, Naples, Orlando, Pensacola, Tallahassee, Tampa and West Palm Beach.
