NETWORK BOX BEGINS BETA TESTING DISTINCTIVE, INNOVATIVE NEW RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY TO COMBAT EMAIL SPAM

HOUSTON, Oct. 23, 2008 -- Network Box Corp., a worldwide managed security company, has begun beta testing of a new, different kind of relationship management technology to combat Internet spam, according to its American arm, Network Box USA, Inc. (www.networkboxusa.com).

"During preliminary testing, we're catching virtually 100 percent of the spam without any false positives," says Pierluigi Stella, CTO of Network Box USA. "This is unheard of in the industry. Typically, when you approach 98 percent accuracy, you start having an annoying amount of false positives, and this is not happening with our new technology."

The innovative Network Box approach will offer customers significant improvements over any existing spam detection technology by not just analyzing the content and IP addresses, but also learning from user email behavior and relationships to better understand which emails are welcome and which are unsolicited spam.

Currently, spam protection has been applied using three main methods: message content analysis; sender's reputation; and challenge response, where email senders need to prove to the recipient who they are. Anti-spam systems today rarely reach more than 95-98 percent accuracy, which - considering the huge volume of email sent - still lets through a significant amount of spam, says Stella.

The new Network Box technology is based on the relationship management concept but greatly improves on it by considering not only the sender, recipient and IP address relationship - as does the traditional technology. Instead, it analyzes and learns from the behavior of both the sender and the recipient, and it constantly learns from users' behaviors.

"Spam is an ever-changing target and not well-defined," adds Stella. "The traditional way of catching spam is to analyze what spammers are sending and create appropriate signatures; this means spammers always have an edge. Although Network Box still uses signatures for final determination, our new technology is resilient to changes in spammers' approaches. We now have the edge and no longer have to chase new spam signatures. It is the spammers who need to change their ways."

Comments Tim Clark, senior analyst and partner at the Silicon Valley market research firm The FactPoint Group (www.factpoint.com): "Spam is more than a nuisance for businesses; it potentially opens the door to outside attacks on a company through spam affected with viruses, trojans and other malware. Any new technology that diverts the flood of unwanted emails not only improves productivity of employees but helps gird an enterprise against outside attackers."

Network Box's new relationship management technology is poised to benefit all types of businesses and organizations - from banks and credit unions to insurance companies, educational institutions, and government entities.
