NEXDSS AWARDED CONTRACT FROM UNITED STATES NAVY

KENNESAW, GA, Aug. 2, 2006 -- Under a small business contract with R&K Engineering serving as the prime contractor and NexDSS (www.nexdss.com) as a subcontractor, the United States Navy recently selected this team to provide a Building - Facility Condition Assessment Program (B-FCAP) software tool and professional services program. The program will support a Navy-wide implementation in the context of a reengineered business process. William J. Faesenmeier, NexDSS' Director, made the announcement.

The multi-million dollar B-FCAP program includes turnkey implementation of NexDSS' decision support software product called Vertex®, together with hardware, maintenance, training, and support. The Vertex implementation will support 1,500 users at 120 locations around the world in managing over 555 million square feet of Navy facilities.

The B-FCAP program will also establish a Navy-wide facilities assessment process and tools that provide credible and objective facilities condition, mission, and performance information that supports the facilities sustainment and recapitalization funding and execution objectives. Additionally, the program will provide information for the Navy's strategic investment of facility sustainment, restoration, and modernization funds.

The program will be implemented in three phases:

Phase I - Defining business processes and process changes. Integrated Definition Methods (IDEF; a process modeling method) models were created to define the impact of the new processes on all Navy stakeholders.
Phase II - Testing the Vertex tool that would enable the process changes and integrate it with the Navy's enterprise-wide, computerized maintenance management system, known as Single Platform MAXIMO.
Phase III - Incorporating lessons learned in Phase II and then conducting training of Navy and contractor personnel, followed by a rollout of the tools to all naval installations.

Recently, the Navy expanded the scope of the initial program beyond building structures. The Site-Facilities Condition Assessment Program (S-FCAP) includes assessing airfield/vehicular pavement and waterfront construction.

The Navy ultimately plans to include all site infrastructure elements into the program to be able to evaluate its real property portfolio on an enterprise level. NexDSS is also working to define business processes to define functionality and restoration ratings required for reporting in the U.S. Department of Defense Readiness Reporting System.
