EIGHT NEW MEMBERS JOIN SDR FORUM

DENVER, CO, Feb. 27, 2008 -- The SDR Forum (www.sdrforum.org) announced today that eight organizations and educational institutions that develop and promote new and innovative technologies have joined the Forum as new members.

A brief snapshot of each organization:

Adapt4® -- Located in Melbourne, FL, Adapt4 (www.adapt4.com) develops cognitive radios. The company's XG1™ cognitive radio technology allows it to adapt to its surroundings and 'time-share' existing, licensed channels, but only when they are not in use. XG1 operates within licensed frequency bands on a secondary user basis.

Battery Ventures - Battery Ventures (www.battery.com) was established in 1983 and is located in Waltham, MA. The company invests in technology-driven companies, areas of which include Internet and digital media; financial services & tech-enabled businesses; clean tech & advanced materials; software; semiconductors & components; infrastructure technologies and communications services.

eASIC® -- The company is a fabless semiconductor offering structured ASIC devices that reduce overall fabrication cost and time of customized silicon devices. eASIC (www.easic.com) enables customers to develop structured ASICs with zero mask charges and no minimum order quantity. eASIC is in Santa Clara, CA.

KTH-Swedish Royal Institute of Technology (www.kth.se) - Founded in 1827, the main campus is in central Stockholm. There are over 12,000 undergraduate students, 1,400 graduate students. Education and research encompasses natural sciences, all branches of engineering, architecture and urban planning.

OmniPhase Research Laboratories, Inc. - The Newport Beach, CA-based company (www.omniphase.us) develops advanced wireless technologies and applications for military and commercial use.

Pioneer Consulting - Pioneer Consulting (www.pioneerconsulting.com) is a Woburn, MA-based international marketing research and consulting firm specializing in global high-speed telecommunications networks and technologies. The company focuses on three main practices - optical transport, submarine systems, and emerging wireless.

QuickFlex, Inc. - San Antonio, TX-based QuickFlex (www.quickflex.com) specializes in advanced system solutions, including dynamic system-level software management of application software and field programmable gate arrays.

VIStology, Inc. - VIStology (www.vistology,com) is a research and development corporation located in Framingham, MA. Core areas of technical expertise include formal semantics, information fusion, situation awareness, object-oriented modeling & design, artificial intelligence and software engineering. Over the years VIStology has had various projects funded through contracts with clients including DARPA, AFRL, ONR and the U.S. Army.

More information on joining the SDR Forum will be available at the SDR Forum's 58th General Meeting in Rome, Italy from April 14-17. Technical, business and government leaders worldwide will gather to discuss key issues related to SDR technology and its deployment. Among the highlights of this meeting will be a plenary presentation by Motorola Program Manager Didier Bourse introducing the E3 (End-to-End Efficiency) program, a plenary roundtable session led by innovITS CEO Phil Pettitt exploring the use of software defined and cognitive radio technologies in intelligent transportation systems.

Other activities will include continued advancement of the cognitive use cases and the trade study on the multi-service portable radios by the Forum's Public Safety Special Interest Group as well as work on the meta-language for mobility use cases and scenario analysis, the cognitive nomenclature document, response to ITU-R WP5A questions on cognitive radio, the specification on securing software reconfigurable communications technologies, and a number of relevant APIs (application programming interfaces) by the Technical Committee. In addition, the Regulatory Committee will provide a plenary summary on the initial results of the SDR Forum regulatory request for information, which will be used as a basis for defining the Forum's international regulatory agenda.
