ADVANCED PERSONNEL SYSTEMS UNVEILS SMARTSEARCH ONLINE

OCEANSIDE, CA, Sept. 15, 1998 -- Advanced Personnel Systems, Inc. (APS) has introduced SmartSearch Online, a state-of-the-art Web-based system providing companies with instant Web access to job listings. Doug Coull, APS president, made the announcement.

SmartSearch Online interacts with APS' SmartSearch database, a job-driven, scanning-based, employment management system. It features a 'user-friendly' interface and the system can be learned in minutes.

"SmartSearch Online is a more cost-efficient alternative for recruiting employees," Coull said. "The traditional procedure - processing resumes, generating response letters, typing labels, calling back candidates, etc., is time consuming and expensive for companies. If your business goes through a hiring spurt and purchases an expensive employment-management system, you'll have to hire additional employees to manage and administer it. And if there is any turnover, the business has to retrain employees. The bottom line is many times the systems aren't even used."

SmartSearch Online offers businesses a number of benefits. Companies have instant and unlimited access to their resume database and can avoid having resumes pile up. It saves companies time, money and it's secure - each company's database is private and protected by the most current database security system. The system also has an 'Automatch' feature that flags specific categories for companies. A firm can set up a customized search plan that automatically e-mails resumes meeting a certain criteria, thus avoiding rerunning searches to find newer candidates. The system finds them once the job parameters are defined. SmartSearch Online can also broadcast e-mail to multiple candidates - this saves time tracking down candidates because employers can e-mail literally hundreds of candidates instantly to ascertain their job interest.

"SmartSearch Online is designed to provide employers with a turnkey recruitment solution on the Web and is easily integrated with a company's internal HRIS," Coull said. "It's an invaluable recruitment tool that saves companies a lot of up-front capital investment."

One company utilizing SmartSearch Online, San Ramon,CA-based Passport Access, an online recruitment facility for technical recruiters and technical candidates (the company has more than 200,000 technical resumes, the world's largest technical database), indicated that the system has become a 'gigantic revenue stimulant.'

APS, established in 1985, is located in Oceanside, CA, about 30 miles north of San Diego. The firm pioneered scanning-based staffing management and has since become a nationwide industry leader in introducing optical scanning technology for resume retrieval, report generation and application tracking. In 1990, APS created SmartSearch, a jobs-driven, scanning-based employment management system used by companies nationwide.
