STANTUM ANNOUNCES FIRST COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE ALL-IN-ONE MULTI-TOUCH DEVELOPMENT KIT

LOS ANGELES, May 20, 2008 -- At the SID International Exhibition today, Stantum Technologies (www.stantum.com, Booth #657), a pioneer developer of multi-touch sensing technology, announced the industry's first commercially available multi-touch development kit. The kit (SMK 15.4) will enable vendors and OEM integrators to develop unlimited multi-touch user interfaces for their own products or research projects, using Stantum's patented, market-proven technology.

The introduction of the SMK 15.4 kit comes on the heels of Stantum establishing a business unit to provide customers with tailor-made multi-touch solutions by way of components or licenses.

"Our new development kit complements this aspect of our business," said Guillaume Largillier, Stantum's co-founder and CEO. "Taking advantage of our long experience producing multi-touch systems for our own JazzMutant line of surface controllers for audio applications, OEM customer can have us adapt our unique tactile screen technology to precisely fit their individual needs or they can now do it themselves with our SMK 15.4 kit."

Stantum's technology lets users simultaneously move an unlimited number of fingers, nails or utensils (such as styli) on a screen. Fitting any form-factor, it enables integrators to design extremely innovative multi-touch interfaces, thus simplifying the development process and considerably shortening their product's time-to-market.

The new SMK 15.4 development kit comes with everything needed for a high-performance, one-stop multi-touch system, including a wide-screen TFT LCD display; a high-resolution multi-touch sensor; an electronic controller that embeds Stantum's patented scanning and filtering technology; cross-platform drivers for WIN, Mac and Linux; a top-level application programming interface; and USB and standard 15-pin or DVI-D connectors. Key specifications include:

  • 15.4-inch wide-screen WXGA display
  • 1280 x 800 display resolution
  • <4 pixels (<0.5 mm) touch-repositioning accuracy.

The SMK 15.4 is available now. Inquiries can be made via Stantum's web site at www.stantum.com/spip.php?page=inquiry.
