SID DISPLAY WEEK, BOSTON, JUNE 4, 2012 – Stantum (www.stantum.com), a pioneer developer of multi-touch technology, and Nissha Printing Co., Ltd., have introduced FineTouch Z – a disruptive, pressure-based transparent touch-panel technology – here at SID Display Week (Booth #437). FineTouch Z is the only solution in the marketplace today that unifies the intuitiveness of multi-touch with the spontaneity of stylus input – with a single sensor and no performance tradeoff.
Stantum and Nissha have been working closely for the past two years on the technology and will be hosting private FineTouch Z demos for customers, partners and industry analysts.
Until now, the only other solution was to combine a projected capacitive sensor with either an electro-magnetic or a battery-powered stylus. FineTouch Z also doesn't require a dedicated active stylus; it unlocks the creative power of smart connected devices without raising costs.
FineTouch Z not only overcomes the limitations of today's mainstream touch technologies, it's also the first pressure-based touch sensing solution that can compete equally with projected capacitive touchscreens. It provides unparalleled optical clarity and seamlessly works with any type of conductive or non-conductive object.
FineTouch Z is powered by Stantum's patented Interpolated Voltage Sensing Matrix (iVSM) touch-and-write technology, which Stantum showcased at the 2011 SID Display Week. iVSM technology supports Windows and Android operating systems on x86 and ARM-based platforms and lets OEMs design tablet displays that allow as many as 10 simultaneous touches combined with high-resolution handwriting input. FineTouch Z also features unlimited multi-touch with neither ghost nor masking effects and offers high-resolution, smart touch capability, an ultra-fast scanning engine, and low-power consumption.
"The market potential of FineTouch Z is enormous, and we're pleased to be partnering with Stantum on this venture," said Nissha Executive Vice President/Chief Technology Officer Takao Hashimoto. "Stantum is a true innovator of advanced multi-touch technology, and FineTouch Z is the latest example."
Commented Stantum CEO Robert Pelissier: "Stantum is committed to providing multi-touch display solutions that really make a difference. We're confident that FineTouch Z will be an industry game changer and are proud to be working with a world-class manufacturer like Nissha to bring it to market."
Engineering samples are now available for select customers, with mass production of FineTouch Z slated to begin in Q4 2012.
Stantum (www.stantum.com) has been the pioneering company in multi-touch technology since 2002, and in 2005 was the first company to market commercial products using a truly reliable multi-touch user interface. Stantum is headquartered in Bordeaux, France, with offices in North America and Japan.
Nissha Printing Co., Ltd. (www.nissha.co.jp/english) is a publicly held (Tokyo Stock Exchange), Kyoto, Japan-based company founded in 1929. The company designs, manufactures and sells industrial materials and electronic-related products and also manufactures decorating films, input devices, molded products and dies. Nissha Printing Co., Ltd. has 22 subsidiaries worldwide, including the United States, China, South Korea and Germany.
