HARTE-HANKS COMPLETES CiTDB EXPANSION IN CHINA; TECHNOLOGY BUYERS REPORT $300 MILLION IN PLANNED PURCHASES IN 2009

SAN DIEGO, CA, March 17, 2009 -- Harte-Hanks® (NYSE: HHS), a worldwide direct and target-marketing company, has completed its recent expansion of the Ci Technology Database™ (CiTDB) into the Asia-Pacific region.

The CiTDB for China identifies more than 5,800 significant technology buying initiatives, and profiles over 44,000 decision makers at 10,000 key business locations within China, each of them gathered and verified through telephone research.

"One of the most exciting discoveries we made while gathering this intelligence is that, despite a global economic shift, these companies are planning to spend several hundred million dollars on information technology," said Tino Kokkinos, managing director at Harte-Hanks Market Intelligence. "Additionally, more than 25% are planning major IT initiatives in the next 24 months. That's great news for our technology clients who need to boost sales in China."

The CiTDB for China also helps to identify current technology installations and triggers, as well as competitive installations, company demographics and key decision makers inside business sites located there. Contact names and company demographic intelligence are provided in both English and Mandarin. More than 10,000 email addresses are available as well.

"We've gone to great lengths to keep abreast of the new challenges in the Asia-Pacific region by building our intelligence, keeping it current, and helping customers use it to their advantage," said Kokkinos. "In order to identify the opportunities with the greatest potential for its clients, Harte-Hanks focused its data collection efforts on companies located in the largest metropolitan areas with at least 75 employees that have at least 10 or more PCs."

The CiTDB expansion into China complements the Harte-Hanks CiTDB in North America, Latin America and Europe, which contains more than 600,000 business profiles and 2 million decision makers, and a host of 'sales alert' products and services to help technology sellers and marketers capitalize on the intelligence and use it to identify prospective customers and close specific sales opportunities.

The IT initiatives specifically identified in CiTDB China include purchase and installation of servers; deployment of server or storage virtualization initiatives; purchase and installation of 50+ personal computers; deployment of new storage area networks and expansions of existing networks; new initiatives to lower power consumption (such as "greening" data centers); adoption of Microsoft Vista and open source computing platforms; deployment of voice-over IP or other phone systems; new wireless networks; expanded network security and wide-area networks; and expiration of cellular and long distance contracts.

Competitive installation intelligence includes naming of preferred vendors in 17 hardware, software, storage, telecommunications, data communications and services categories, as well as technology totals to help size IT infrastructures and opportunity.

Up to seven technology and business decision makers also are profiled per location: senior IT manager, networks manager, telecommunications manager, software/applications manager, PC manager, senior business manager and senior sales manager. Company demographics detail company name, parent company name (if applicable), industry, employee size, web site address, as well as contact data for street and postal address, telephone number.
