NETWORK BOX USA CHANGES HOW MANAGED UTM DEVICES ARE SOLD; CLIENTS WILL NOW PAY A FLAT FEE ON A 3-YEAR CONTRACT THAT INCLUDES THE HARDWARE

HOUSTON, March 17, 2010 – Network Box USA (www.networkboxusa.com), the American arm of worldwide managed security service provider Network Box Corp., is changing the way managed unified threat management (UTM) appliances are sold.  Its customers will now pay a flat fee for the managed service and sign a three-year contract that guarantees their annual cost will not change during that time; importantly, they will no longer pay for the hardware – a major innovation, not only for Network Box USA but also for the managed Internet security industry, where service providers traditionally manage the UTM devices their customers purchase separately.

Previously, Network Box USA customers would pay an entry price that included the award-winning Network Box UTM appliance, license and service, with a yearly renewal fee approximately half the initial amount.

“Many of the companies we serve have told us that paying a higher price up front and a lower recurring price is not in their best interest – that they’d prefer to pay a flat fee over the contract period, including the first year,” said Randy Hays, Network Box USA’s director of sales.  “With our new pricing model, as long as they’re under contract, they won’t have to pay for new hardware when the current one needs replacing.”

This includes new hardware to replace Network Box UTM devices that become obsolete.  “We’ve found that clients have resisted purchasing a new unit, so we’d end up having to support their old one,” Hays added.  “It’s a much easier solution all around for us to be responsible for hardware upgrades and just replace an existing UTM without having to charge any extra fee.”

Under the new pricing structure, Network Box USA will impose only a small fee for early termination, unlike most of its competitors, who require a customer to pay the total amount due for the entire contract.

“We don’t want to lock our customers into such a rigid, binding situation,” said Hays.  “At Network Box USA, we believe it makes better business sense to retain clients because they like our UTM and our services and not because they’re tied to a contract.”

Sold through the reseller channel and remotely managed by Network Box USA, the Network Box UTM appliance weaves together numerous applications – firewall, intrusion prevention and detection, virtual private network, content filtering, anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-phishing, and anti-spyware – into a single, sophisticated hybrid of hardware and software.  It enables an enterprise to combat hackers, worms, backdoors, and other online menaces, easily and cost-effectively.
