HOUSTON, March 23, 2011 – Network Box USA (www.networkboxusa.com), the American arm of worldwide managed security service provider Network Box Corp., today announced the immediate availability of data leakage prevention (DLP), which scans email traffic to ensure it does not contain any privileged or confidential information.
Implemented in two parts (DLP_Rules and Policy_DLP) the customizable new option applies the same award-winning Network Box anti-spam technology to an organization's policy on SMTP mail and allows it to define complex rules and enforce policy blocks.
The DLP_Rules engine can be configured to run on outbound data, inbound data, or bi-directionally and can be used to block sensitive information such as credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, and document files. The Policy_DLP engine is configured with a list of directions, as well as named DLP tests and thresholds; this permits sophisticated policy enforcement rules to be configured, enabling an organization to block outbound emails containing specific attachments, such as encrypted ZIP files.
Splitting the scanning and enforcement phases provides a flexible implementation that can be selectively enabled and disabled on a per-user basis. The availability of the two engines and the sophisticated rules language is specially designed to accelerate customization, with little impact on the existing anti-virus and anti-spam phases of scanning.
"Our new DLP option is a welcome addition to our managed security arsenal, especially for organizations that are subject to regulatory compliance," said Pierluigi Stella, CTO of Network Box USA. "Many of our customers are financial institutions, where data leakage prevention is an important consideration."
